LDHS: The Raider wrestling team has started their season and I need to “catch up with them..

  •  Tues. 12-213…   The Raiders were in action up at Byrnes and dropped a 42-32 decision to the always powerful Byrnes team… In that match Ridge DeVuono, Tevin Jenkins, Caine Trevino, Ryan Hughes, Austin Crocker and Stephens Johnson all took wins.
  • Wed. 12-4-13… The next day the Raiders hosted Dorman and Ware Shoals in a dual meet… Laurens was without Ryan Hughes that night as he was attending the Laurens County TD Club’s Annual banquet where he made the All-County team….  Dorman took a 68-9 win over the Raiders with Josh Hyatt and Austin Crocker recording the only two wins for the Raiders… The Raiders.  However did take a 57-17 win over the Ware Shoals Hornets… Ridge DeVuono, Jordan McCall, Jesus Barcenas, Lamonte Hill, Stephens Johnson and Jared Cooley all took wins in actual completion… Complete raider results can be found in the Wrestling Schedule and Results posting in the featured Sports section on our homepage..  Click here to go there. Middle School Basketball

Sanders @ Belton

  • Girls: SMS 26 – Belton 18… The SMS teams travel to Belton last night and the ride home was a happy one as they both took Wentz the Lady Yellow Jackets defeated Belton 26-18… And the game was pretty even until the fourth quarter when, Jada Turner had two 3-point goals to enable SMS pull away… Turner finished with 9 points leading the team with Cali Heisey contributing 8 points.
  • Boys: SMS 43 – Belton 31… In boy’s action, SMS took a 43-31 win over Belton… SMS had a fairly easy game and many of Belton’s points were scored on SMS substitutes… SMS had two players scoring in double digits as Troy Dendy had 14 and Ty Foster had 11… Both SMS teams are undefeated on the season.

Bell Street Red @ Honea Path

  • Girls:  No results from Coach Yates
  • Boys: BSR 40 – HP 25… The BSR boys got back on the winning track after the loss to Sanders last week as they took a 40-25 win over HP… Ty Priestly led the Wildcats with 13 points… Also scoring in double digits was, Taylor Bailey with 12 points….  Other scorers were: Zack James & JD Payne 6 points each, Jalheed Cook 3 and also adding 2 points each Zay Hurley and Tobias SmithLaurens Middle @ Gray Court-Owings
  • Girls: GCO 14 – LMS 13… In a battle of Tigers the GCO the Lady Tigers took a close 14-13, when over the Lady Tigers of LMS… The score was tied 4-4 at the half and it stayed close all the way… Kiara Austin led GCO with 6 points… Jada Dial had 8 points to lead the LMS girls.
  • Boys: GCO 41 – LMS 27… In boys action the game is not quite as close as GCO took a 41-27 win over LMS… LMS led 14-4 in the first quarter but GCO took a 19-14 lead into the locker room at the half… A 17-8 run in the third quarter by GCO secured the game for them… Josh Greene had 16 points to lead GCO… Ryan Dacre added 9… Keshun Barksdale was the leading scorer for LMS with 12 points

Hickory Tavern @ Bell Street White

  • Girls: BSW 27 – HT 4… But the BSW girls team remained perfect on the season last night as they took a 27-4 victory over the Lady Panthers of HT… The Lady Wildcats defense forced numerous Panther turnovers and held the Panthers scoreless in the second and fourth quarters… BSW Coach John Gardner was able to play the substitutes liberally starting in the second quarter… Josie Case and April Seymore each had 2 points for the Panthers….  Amani Grant led BSW in scoring with 8 points… Also scoring for the Wildcats were: Sydney Fisher 6, Corey Nichols, 5, Alyssa Abercrombie 4, and both Jazz Curenton and had 2 each.
  • Boys: BSW 27 – HT 16… The BSW boys also stay perfect as they defeated HT 27-16….The Wildcats jumped out to a 10-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and then held the Panthers scoreless in the second quarter and they were never really threatened after that… In the second half BSW was able to play their bench and HT didn’t make a run at them scoring 8 points in the third quarter and 6 in the fourth quarter… Cameron Koon led the Panthers in scoring with 6 points… Also scoring for HT: Nathan Long 5, 2 points for Layton Mahon and Brandon Charles while Matthew Aylesworth added 1 point… Scoring 9 points each for the Wildcats was King Price and Shimeek Gaskins… Others scoring for BSW were Jaquan Davis 4, Quantez McGowan & TC Irons 2 points each while Jim Marcus cook added 1 point.College Notes:

  • On Friday Dec.13th the CHS @ LDHS basketball games at LDHS will be broadcast on Sports Radio 1410 WPCC…. Now we would like for to go out and support your favorite team on Friday but if you can’t join Buddy, Jimmy and Jason as they bring you all the action live from the main gym at LDHS at about 5:45…  I’ll also remind you that the game will be streamed live at
