Sports Report Friday, January 3rd 2014

High School basketball action gets back underway next week. The Raider Boys and Girls face Easley next tuesday night at home. Clinton Varsity Boys and Girls face Newberry next Monday night at home. The Laurens Raider Varsity wrestling team will take part in the Bearcat Invitational at Rock Hill High School today and tomorrow and the JV Wrestling Team will be in the Carolina Invitational Qualifier at Eastside High School tomorrow.
The Lady Blue Hose faced Longwood at home in the Templeton Center last night in a hard fought battle. The PC Ladies managed to keep it a 3 point game but fell in the end 43 to 46. They play Radford tomorrow at 2pm at home in the Templeton Center. The PC Men are on the road facing Marshall this Sunday in Huntington, West Virginia.
Yesterday, No. 11 Oklahoma took down the  No. 3 team in the nation, Alabama in the Allstate Sugar Bowl 45 to 31. Tonight, bowl action gets started at 7:30 on Fox as the  No. 13 Oklahoma State Doffers face the No. 8 Missouri Weavers in the AT&T Cotton Bowl. Then the only bowl that matters today, the No.12 Clemson Tigers face No.7 Ohio State in the Discover Orange Bowl at 8:30 on ESPN. This is a bit of deja vu from my childhood when I thought Danny Ford hung a tiger paw on the moon. Let’s just hope no Clemson players get punched in the throat by an angry Ohio coach this time. Go Tigers!
Tomorrow Vandy plays Houston in the Compass Bowl at 1pm on ESPN. Let’s hope neither team loses their…direction. Sunday Arkansas State faces Ball State in the Godaddy Bowl at 9pm on ESPN. The National Championship Game is Monday at 8:30pm on ESPN with N0.1 Florida State facing N0.2 Auburn. I think Oceola’s spear might just burn the place down. Blow blow Seminole Wind.
