Yesterday around 3pm, Sgt. Carter of the LCSO responded to a scrap yard in Gray Court in reference to someone trying to scrap a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, Sgt. Carter learned that a suspect attempted to scrap a 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. A Scrap yard employee ran the vin number through DMV and found the vehicle to be stolen. Central Dispatch and the Sheriff’s Office ran the vin and it came back clear. The suspect stated that the car had been on his grandmother’s property as long as he could remember and he had permission from his family to scrap the car. No charges were filed due to the discrepancy but the junkyard would not accept the vehicle because their records showed it stolen. The man in possession of the car left with his Carlo.
