The filing period for 2014 Elections is now officially open. Candidates who want to seek their party’s nomination in Primaries this spring for General Election this fall have until Noon on March 30th to file. The filing period technically opened at noon yesterday, with filing for Laurens County candidates to take place at the Laurens County Election’s Office in the Historic Courthouse Square in Laurens. The office is open Monday thru Friday from 9 am until 5 pm. Elections Director Lynne West said her office will also be open from 8am until noon Saturday, March 29th and Sunday, March 30th. The filing closes at Noon on Sunday, March 30th.
Candidate requirements vary between various election positions, but details are available on-line at SCVotes.org. Candidates must pay the filing fee at the time of filing. They must be paid by check. Cash, debit and credit cards are not acceptable.
Mrs. West stated that Candidate names and filing documents will be posted to SCVotes.org in real time.
