Kidnapping & Domestic Violence Charged

    The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday arrested a Clinton man on charges of Kidnapping and Criminal Domestic Violence from an alleged incident at the Traveler’s Inn on Highway 56 North yesterday. After arguing over a tablet he had given a Clinton woman about a month earlier, he allegedly threw a soda bottle, striking her in the right eye. Charged with Kidnapping and Criminal Domestic Violence was 32-year-old Barry Cook Jr. “Boot” of 300 Helen Street, Clinton. Deputy McMahan states that on March 16th Barry Cook Jr. did unlawfully seize, confine or kidnap a victim at the Traveler’s Inn on Highway 56 North, Clinton and that he held the victim against her will, refusing to her leave until the next morning. The Officer alleged in the CDV warrant that Cook caused physical harm or injury to the victim in a room at the Traveler’s Inn. Barry Cook Jr. was being held in the Johnson Detention Center earlier this morning, pending arraignment on the Kidnapping and Criminal Domestic Violence charges.
