Woman Arrested Following Foot Chase


  At 8:04 last night Laurens City Officer Charles Simmons reportedly noticed a sedan traveling at 50 miles-per-hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone on Fleming Street. He monitored the car and reported that once on Exchange Drive it reached 60-miles per hour. Officer Simmons initiated a traffic stop and they approached Main Street. The car reportedly pulled into the 7-11 store parking lot and the driver exited and ran from the scene. The officer followed and a foot chase cross Main into the Walgreen’s parking lot, behind the store, across the 127 By-Pass, behind the Cato’s store and into the woods between Cato and Wal-Mart, where he was able to place the subject in custody. Tickets were issued charging 22-year-old Anterica Sherrell Mims of 732 Douglas Road, Gray Court with Driving under Suspension of her License, Careless Driving, Resisting Arrest, Driving without a Vehicle License and Driving an Uninsured Vehicle. She was being held overnight in the Johnson Detention Center, pending arraignment on the charges today.
