Local Sports Results:


  • Golf: CHS 196 – Newberry 237…For the second time this week, the Red Devil golf team defeated Newberry yesterday this time by a score of 196-237. Clinton’s top 3 golfers sat out the match Thursday to give some of the younger players experience in playing in a match for the first time… Zach Davis moved up to the number one slot and shot a 7 over par 43…  Davis was 5 over after 3 holes but finished strong by paring 5 of the last 6 holes… Caleb Moore had the second best score with a 47… Jay Addison shot a 51 and Karl Gustafson an eighth grader playing in his first match, rounded out the scoring for the Red Devils shooting a 55… Clinton improves to 6-1 and will host Broome Monday at Lakeside CC
  • Soccer: Clinton 6 – Chester 0…  The Red Devil soccer team hosted the Cyclones of Chester yesterday and good news as Clinton took a 6-0 win… Noland Boozer and Madison Simpson each had 2 goals for Clinton while Jay Roland and Chris Wright each had a single goal… Clinton outshot Chester 28-11… Clinton now is 2-9 on the season and 2-2 in region play.
  • BB: Clinton 7 – Laurens 2… Clinton and Laurens hooked up in round 2 of their cross-county rivalry last night in Clinton and the Red Devils evened the series with a 7-2 win over the Raiders… Clinton struck for 2 runs in the second and 5 more in the decisive 5th inning… The Raiders finally broke onto the board with 2 runs in the 6th inning… Kendall Pitts went 3-3 with a double and an RBI to lead Clinton’s offense while Matt Craven also went 2-3 with 2 RBIs to be the only other Red Devil with more than 1 hit… Grayson Bailes was the only Raider to have more than 1 hit as he 2-2 with a double… Peyton Spangler went the distance for the Red Devils picking up the win… He gave up 2 unearned runs on 7 hits walking 3 and also striking out 3… Tanner Adair took the loss giving up the 7 earned runs on 10 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1… Afterward Coach Lee Atkinson stated “It was a great team win tonight, especially for our seniors… Peyton Spangler did a great job on the mound ,giving up 2 runs in 7 innings of work. Our Defense played well turning 3 double plays and throwing out a runner at the plate. We had 10 hits tonight… Matthew Craven, Kendall Pitts and Trey Childress each had 2-out RBI hits for us.   • JV BB: Clinton 8 – Laurens 1…   In the game preceding the varsity game at Clinton last night, The Red Devils took an -1 win over the Raiders… Davis Cunningham got the win for Clinton giving up only 2 hits while striking out 4… Chandler Todd led Clinton’s offense going 3-3 with a double… Cameron Bishop went 2-3  with a double and Davis Cunningham 2-4 with a double also.



  • SB: LDHS 6 – Greenwood 1…. The Lady Raiders traveled Greenwood last night in Region 1-AAAA action and the ride home was a pleasant one as they ran their region record to a perfect 8-0 with a 6-1 win over the Lady Eagles….
