A budget for Fiscal Year 2014-15 was unanimously approved on first reading at Tuesday night’s Laurens County Council meeting. No spending details were presented to council at the meeting, as County Administrator Ernie Segars told council that the purpose of the vote was to just to get it on the schedule. Segars announced that will have a budget review meeting next Tuesday at 5pm to start looking over the numbers.
Council also gave unanimous first reading approval to Ordinance 768, which deals with Education Milleage for Fiscal Year 2014-15, which establishes a one milli tax levy to provide funding for a special education appropriation. 90% of the one mill revenue will go to Piedmont Tech and 10% goes to The University of South Carolina – Union operations in Laurens.
