Local Sports Results 

CHS:

  • Tennis: Clinton 6 – Chapman 1… Yesterday the Red Devil tennis team made up a match with Chapman that had been rained out last week… The Red Devils took a 6-1 win over the Panthers and in doing so improved their region record to 7-0 and wrap up their 6th consecutive region championship in a row… Austin and Issac MacMillan as well as Robert Powell and Bubba Wyman all took wins in singles action… The MacMillians teamed up to take a win as the #1 doubles team… Mac martin and Shakiyl Smiley also took a win as the #2 doubles team… Click on the following link for more match details: CHS-Tennis-4-28-14-Chapman   The team will be back in action today as they finish their regular season with a match at the Greenwood Country Club against Emerald
  • SB: Chester 9 – Clinton 0…  Chester had a 1-0 lead going into the 4th inning when they struck for 5 runs to go up 6-0 in route to a 9-0 win at Chester… Clinton was led by Allison Oxner and Cassie Nichols who both went 2-3… Jessica Wood picked up the loss giving up 6 earned runs on 12 hits while striking out 4.
  •  JV Softball: Chester 11 – Clinton 0.

 

LDHS:

  • BB: Hanna 2 – Laurens 1… The Laurens Raider baseball team closed out their regular season last night as they hosted the Yellow Jackets of TL Hanna in a game that had major implications in determining region finishes and playoff positions… It was a game where the pitchers pretty much dominated as Hanna took a 2-1 win over Laurens to lock up first place in the region… Kevin smiley gave the Raiders the lead in the first inning as he had a solo-homer over the left field fence….  After that, Hanna pitcher Adam Hill allowed only 3 more hits the remainder of the game…  Hannah picked up a single run in the 6th and then scored the winning run with 3 singles after 2 outs in the 7th inning…Tanner Adair started for the Raiders and went 5⅓ innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 7… Kevin Dean came in relief and gave up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 2… Click on the following for game statistics: 14-4-28_LDHS_BB-Hannat_Stats  Click on the following for the game scorecard: 14-4-28_LDHS_BB-Hannat_Scorecard  With the win, Hannah finishes first in Region I-AAAA, Greenwood 2nd, JL Mann third and Laurens 4th… Laurens will start playoff action this Thursday as they travel to Blythewood at a time to be announced.
  • SB: Laurens 13 – TL Hanna 0 (5)… Laurens also hosted Hanna in softball action and the results were a little different as they took a 13-0 win over Hanna in 5 innings to give them a perfect 12-0 record in region play… Laurens scored 3 runs in the first inning and never needed more as Logan Hill and Allison Foreback combined to throw a 1 hit shutout… Maria Williamson and Baylee Brag each collected 2 hits in Laurens 12 hit attack … One of Williamson’s hits was a 2-run homer in the second inning… Click on the following for game statistics: 14-4-28_SB_LDHS-Hanna_Stats  Click on the following for the game scorecard: 14-4-28_SB_LDHS-Hanna_Scorecard  Laurens finishes their regular season with a 24-4 record and will host a first round playoff game this Thursday against an opponent yet to be determined… Congratulations to the Lady Raiders!!

Laurens Academy:

  • BB: LA 3 – Coastal Christian 1… Congratulations go out today to the Laurens Academy baseball team as they took a 3-1 win over Coastal Christian in first round playoff action at Laurens Academy last night… I don’t have any details but if I get them, I’ll let you know… Today, LA will play Coastal Christian in Mt. Pleasant at Park West Recreation Complex. The address is 1251 Park West Blvd., Mount Pleasant; SC… Good luck to the Crusaders!
