Local Sports Results:


  • Golf:  The CHS golf team finished second in the Region III-AAA Tournament yesterday at the Village Greens CC… Chapman won the region for the second year in a row shooting a 320. Clinton finished 15 shots back shooting a 335. Union county finished third with a 368, Woodruff 4th with a 373 rounding out the automatic qualifiers for the upper-state tournament… Broome finished 5th with a 374 and Chester finished 6th with a 492… Chapman’s Seth Robertson won the individual title for the region for the second year in a row shooting a 3 over par 75… Clinton’s Harrison Fisher was the medalist for the Red Devils and finished third overall shooting a 5 over par 78… Senior Hunter Nichols finished 6th overall and shot an 8 over par 80… Zach Davis finished tied for 7th and shot an 84 and Michael Mann rounded out the scoring for the Red Devils with a 93… Caleb Moore also shot a 94 today… The Red Devils placed three members on the all region team in Fisher, Nichols, and Davis… Clinton will travel to Timberlake Country Club in Chapin to compete in the upper state tournament on Monday and must finish in the top 8 to qualify for the state tournament as a team.
  • BB: Blue Ridge 3 – Clinton 1… The Red Devil baseball team hosted Blue Ridge at The Sponge last night and the lack of offense once again doomed the Red Devils as they fell 3-1 thus eliminating them and finishing their season with a 11-13 record… BR jumped on top with 2 runs in the first inning and added another in the third to go up 3-0 before Clinton got on the board in the 6th inning… Landon Allison started the 6th inning off with a walk and was replaced by pinch runner Charles McKinney…  Colby Templeton then walked… A sacrifice bunt by Hunter Stewart moved the 2 runners into scoring position… Bradley Templeton then singled to drive in McKinney… BR then got the next 2 batters to fly-out and ground-out to end the inning… Clinton had runners in scoring position at least 2 other times in the game but just could not get the critical hit to bring them in… Colby Templeton went 2-3 and had 2 of the red Devils 5 hits… Peyton Spangler picked up the loss….   • SB: Laurens 3 – Fort Mill 0… The Lady Raider softball team hosted Fort Mill in an elimination game last night at LDHS… Laurens had defeated FM 14-4 last Thursday and this time stayed alive in the playoffs by taking a 3-0 win over the Lady Yellow Jackets… Laurens got on board in the bottom of the first when Tara Bond led off with a walk and 2 outs later scored on a single by Elizabeth Carman… The Raiders second run came in the 3rd inning when Maria Williamson hit her 9th homerun of the season with no one on base… The Raiders last run came in the 5th inning when Williamson walked, was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Carman and then scored on a single by Jordan Henderson… Allison Foreback picked up the complete game win allowing only 2 hits while striking out 6 and walking 2… Click on the following for more game statistics: 14-5-5_SB_LDHS-Ft_Mill-PO_Stats   Click on the following for the game scorecard: 14-5-5_SB_LDHS-Ft_Mill-PO_Scorecard  The Lady Raiders will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Byrnes High to take on the Lady Rebels who defeated Laurens 5-2 last Friday… Laurens must win the first game and then turn around a few minutes later and defeat Byrnes to advance to the Upper State Playoffs…  Check back tomorrow to find out when the first pitch will be…. As of this moment, WLBG plan on being there for what we hope will be 2 Raider wins.

Braves: Cardinals 4 – Braves 3…  The Braves losing streak has now reached 7 in-a-row as they dropped a 4-3 decision to St Louis last night in Atlanta.
