Sports Report for Monday, 5-12-2014

Local Sports Results:


  • Soccer: Ninety Six 4 – Clinton 0…. Catching up with some soccer action involving CHS, last Thursday the Red Devils completed their regular season with a 4-0 loss at Ninety Six… The Wildcats defense limited the Red Devils to just 7 shots on goal to their 17… Seth Anderson did have 7 saves for the Red Devils in goal… The soccer team will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to River Bluff High School to open up first round playoff action.
  • Golf….  Just a reminder that the Red Devil golf team will be on the road today to the Chapin area as they participate in the upper state tournament at Timberlake CC…. Good Luck to the Red Devils…


NFL Draft:  Well by now all the college football and NFL junkies out there know that this year’s NFL Draft has come and gone….

Braves: Over the weekend the Braves hosted the Chicago Cubs and seem to have broken out of their recent slide as they swept the 3-game series with the Cubs..

  • Friday: Braves 3 – Cubs 2… Freddie Freeman had a walk-off single in the 10th inning to give the Braves the win.
  • Saturday: Braves 2 – Cubs 0… The Braves got their 2 runs in the 7th and made them standup to take the win.
  • Sunday: Braves 5 – Cubs 2…  The Braves displayed a little yesterday as Evan Gattis had a solo homer (8) and Jason Heyward (3) had a 2 run homer to lift the Braves over the Cubs by a score of 5-2 yesterday.
    Today:  The 21-15 Braves start a west coast swing tonight as they start a 3-game series with the Giants tonight at 10:15


Greenville Drive: Catching up on the 19-14 Greenville Drive, On Friday the Drive lost to Greensboro by a score of 5-2 but rebounded to take 2 games from  the West Virginia Power by scores of 6-5 and 9-6 on Saturday and yesterday… They continue their home series with the Power tonight at 7:05
