Local Sports Results:


Soccer: River Bluff 9 – Clinton 0… Catching up on soccer action for CHS, back on Tuesday the Red Devil soccer team traveled to River Bluff H.S. in first round Class AAA soccer playoff action… River Bluff came into the match with a 20-3 record on the season and they played like a top tier team as they took a 9-0 win over the Red Devils… They took 27 shots on goal while their defense allowed just 3 Red Devil shots on goal… Seth Anderson had 9 saves in goal for the Red Devils and Jack Harkins had 3… Clinton finishes the season with a 5-18 record.


Laurens County Speedway:  Let’s recap results from the LCS last Saturday night…

  • Hobby…. Dan Lawson picked up his 3rd victory of the year in the Hobby Division… He had a little help as the leader Tim Tollison slipped on the last turns allowing Lawson to take the win… Mart Patterson finished 2nd and Tollison 3rd.
  • Limited… Limited: Billy Rushton also won his third race of in the Limited Main event leading the entire race.… Chad Edwards was second, Mike Kernells third.
  • SS4…  J.R. Baker won his first race of the season in the SS4…. The next 2 across the finish line were T.J. Baker and Joe Gibson.
  • Crates…  Nick Deitz became a three-race winner by taking the victory in the Crates main event…  He did this by getting past Larry Timms who started on the pole and finished 2nd… Dale Timms finished 3rd.
  • FWD…  And finally in the FWD, Joel Cabe picked up his first win of the season… The next 2 across the finish line were Travis Jamieson and Mason Mack
  • Reminder, gates open at 6 and racing starts at 8 each Saturday night at the LCS where they do dirt right!

NASCAR…Catching up with NASCAR

  • Sprint Cup Leaders… Jeff Gordon has a 15 point lead over Matt Kenseth with 394 points to Kenseth’s 379 in the Sprint Cup series… Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhart jr. and Carl Edwards round out the top 5.
  • Sprint Cup Schedule…. Charlotte Motor Speedway will host the Sprint Cup gang on Saturday for the NASCAR All-Star Showdown & the Sprint Cup All-Star race this Saturday also
  • Nationwide Schedule… Meanwhile the Series will be at the Iowa Speedway for a Sunday race.


Pro Baseball

  • Giants 10 – Braves 4… The Braves and the Giants finished their current series out in San Francisco yesterday afternoon and the Giants took a 10-4 win allowing them to take the series 2 games to 1… The Braves will be off today and open a weekend series in St Louis tomorrow.
  • Savannah 6 – Drive 1… The Greenville Drive went on the road last night as they opened up a road trip in Savannah against the Sand Gnats… The Gnats proved to be a little to “pesty” as they took a 6-1 win over the Drive.


College Baseball:
Bothe Clemson and South Carolina open up their final regular season series today… The Tigers will play host to Boston College and the Gamecocks will be on the road to Nashville as they take on the Commodores of Vanderbilt.. Community Interest:
Laurens Raider Baseball will be having a baseball camp June the 9th-12th from 8:30-12:30… Cost of the camp will be $60… Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily thru our school cafeteria… They will limit the camp to the first 40 kids that sign up… Eligible ages will be 7 years old-rising 8th graders… The Raider baseball coaching staff will provide fundamental baseball instruction that will help your child improve his ability as a player… Players will be grouped according to their skill level… Contact head coach Dale Nelson by email at:   to register.
