College Notes: Tampa 7 – Lander 3… After winning an unbelievable 52 games; the Peach Belt Conference regular-season and tournament titles; and the Southeast Regional crown; the No. 3-ranked Lander Bearcats were eliminated from the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament by top-ranked Tampa, 7-3 up in Cary, NC yesterday… Tampa jumped out to a 5-0 lead after an inning and a half and Lander just could not climb out of the hole against a team that has only lost 3 games all season… The Bearcats finish their season with a great 52-9 record.

Braves: Boston 4 – Braves 0… After playing 2 games with the Boston Red Sox in Atlanta on Monday & Tuesday, the Sox and Braves moved their series to Fenway Park for the first of two in game in Boston… The Red Sox were not very hospitable to their guest as they took a 4-0 win over the Braves…

Greenville Drive: Drive 7 – RiverDogs 5… The Greenville Drive finished their current series with the Charleston Riverdogs down on the coast last night with a 7-5 win… A 2-run homer by Carlos Asauge in the top of the 8th inning proved to be the game winner… The Drive and the RiverDogs split the series winning 2 games each… The Drive open up a 7-game home stand tonight at Flour Field with the Hickory Crawdads being the first team in.
