Theft & Probation Violation

Both the Laurens City Police Department and the State Probation and Parole Agency yesterday had charges for a young Clinton woman. 29-year-old Shelly Brooks Finley of 1463 Sunset Blvd, Clinton was charged by Laurens Police with Obtaining Goods by Fraud from a case last week. Detective Leann Riggott states that on May 21st the defendant intentionally obtained goods belonging to Wal-Mart valued at approximately $45 by false pretenses, allegedly making false return for cash on merchandise taken off a shelf in the store. The charge is enhanced based on two or more prior convictions for theft.

Violation of Probation is alleged by the State Probation agency, citing six failures including failure to report April 23rd as instructed, failure to notify her agent of a change of address, thereby absconding supervision and failure to pay various fees.
