Sports Report for Friday, 6-6-2014

PC Football: Well football season will be here before you know it and PC will open up on the road at Northern Illinois on Thursday night, August 28th…. That is only 84 days away… Don’t you think it is time to think about getting your season tickets for Blue Hose football… Blue reserved chair-back seats season tickets are only $75 each while bench reserved seats are $54 each… You can call the ticket office at 864-833-8240 or click on the following to link to the PC webpage where you will find more information: 2014 PC Season Football Ticket Information.

College Notes: Well number of Division I teams left in the chase for the NCAA baseball Championship is down to 16 as the Super Regional get started today… Half the teams will start their series today and the other half tomorrow… Remember it is a best of 3 series with the winner advancing to the College World Series starting next week… By the way the College of Charleston will start their series at Texas Tech tomorrow… For a complete listing of teams, sites, schedules and what the TV broadcast schedule will be, click on the following link: 2014 Super regional Information

Braves: The Braves were off last night and start a week long road trip with the first stop in Arizona to take on the Diamond-backs…. A quick reminder that the 85th MLB All-Star Game will be July 15th at Target Field the home of the Minnesota Twins… The All-Star voting has started and will be open until just before midnight on July 3rd… You can vote multiple time.… If you are interested, click on the following link: MLB All-Start Voting

Greenville Drive: The Greenville were suppose to start a series with the Rome Braves last night but mother nature poured out too much rain and the game was postponed until Saturday when it will be the second game in a doubleheader.

MLB Draft: The MLB Draft started yesterday and will continue on through tomorrow… The only player drafted in round 1 with ties to the state of South Carolina that I noted was the selection of Grant Holmes as the 22nd pick overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers… Holmes is a right-hand pitcher just graduating from Conway HS.. He is the younger brother of Colby Holmes who played for the Gamecocks prior to signing with the Braves last June… More on the draft early next week.

NBA: Now for you NBA (not really Basketball Association) fans who went to bed early last night, The San Antonio Spurs took a 110-95 victory over the Miami Heat in game 1 of the NBA Finals… It was hot in the arena in San Antonio last night as the AC was broke… Guess they don’t use Thomas Mechanical.
