Sports Report for Friday, 6-13-2014

The Blue Hose football schedule this year includes 6 home games… The first home game is Sept. 6th as they host Bluefield… The other home games are against Furman, Western Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Monmouth and Liberty… Some of these games will be at night as PC is installing lights at Bailey Memorial Stadium this summer… Blue reserved chair-back seats season tickets are only $75 each while bench reserved seats are $54 each… You can call the ticket office at 864-833-8240 or click on the following to link to the PC webpage where you will find more information: 2014 PC Season Football Ticket Information

College Notes: The field is set and the diamond is marked off as play starts tomorrow in Omaha in CWS 2014 edition… The games tomorrow have UC Irvine vs. Texas at 3:00 pm and Louisville vs. Vanderbilt at 8:00… That game has a natural rivalry to it… Then on Sunday Texas Tech vs. TCU (another natural rivalry) at 3:00 then Virginia vs. Mississippi at 8:00… Now if you would like to see the complete bracket, click on the following link: 2014 CWS Bracket

Braves: Rockies 10 – Braves 3… For the 2nd day in a row the Rockies pitching staff put a color on the Braves hitters as Colorado took a 10-3 win over the Atlanta at Coors Field… Colorado led 3-0 going into the bottom of the 7th inning when they added 5 runs to go up 8-0… The Braves responded with 3 runs in the top of the 8th inning mainly off a 2-run homer by BJ Upton in the inning… The Braves had only 4 hits in the game while the Rockies had 12… The Rockies win means they split the 4-game series with the Braves… Atlanta returns home tonight for a 6-game home stand with the Angels being the first team in for a weekend series.

Greenville Drive: The Greenville Drive were suppose to start a series with the Hagerstown Suns last night but rained forced the game to be rescheduled to be the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday… Hopefully they will get a game in tonight in Maryland.

NBA: Spurs 107 – Heat 86… Well for the second game in a row, the San Antonio Spurs took it to the Miami Heat on the Heat’s home court as they took a 107-86 win… The two teams will get together for Game 5 in San Antonio Sunday night at 8:00 pm with the Spurs needing a single win to capture the title… Guess the Heat are not so hot after all…
