Braves: Astros 6 – Braves 1… The Houston Astros avoided the sweep by defeating the Atlanta Braves 6-1 in Houston yesterday afternoon… Neither team hit very well as the Astros got their 6 runs on only 8 hits while the Braves offense was limited to just 6 hits… The big difference was that 2 of the Astros 8 hits were homers with the big blow being a 3-run homer by the Astros third baseman Matt Dominguez in the 5th inning… The Braves travel to Philadelphia today to start a 4-game series with the Phillies over the weekend.

Greenville Drive: Tourist 9 – Drive 4…. The Ashville Tourist defeated the Greenville Drive up in Ashville last night by a score of 9-4… The Tourist broke a 3-3 tie in the 4th inning when they plated 3 runs adding 1 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to take the win… Ashville simply out-hit Greenville 16-6 to take the win… The Drive continue on the road for the next 4 days as they travel to Hickory, NC for a 4-game series with the Crawdads.

World Cup… Germany 1 – USA 0… The US soccer team fell to Germany by a score of 1-0 yesterday in their final game of pool play… Thomas Muller got the lone goal of the game in the 55th minute… The US finishes pool play with a 1-1-1 record and thanks to Portugal which defeated Ghana 2-1 will advance to the round of 16 as they finished 2nd in Group H… The US team will most likely play Belgium next (Tuesday most likely).
