  • Laurens Little League Majors 5 – Easley 1… Last night the Laurens Little League Majors (11-12) took a 5-1 win over Easley in the District 1 semi-finals at Laurens City Park… For more information on this contest, click on the following link to a posting at GoLaurens.com: LLM: Laurens 5 – Easley 1….. Laurens will now face Greenwood tonight at the City Parks for the district championship with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 pm.
  • Clinton Dixie Youth Coaches Pitch…. The Clinton Coaches Pitch Dixie Youth All-Star team participated in the state championship tournament over the weekend and today… Over the weekend they defeated Sumter 15-3 but then lost to Lexington 11-2… They rebounded to beat Lake City 8-7 in extra innings to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record… Today they continued play with a win in the first game but a loss in the second to end their title hopes… They finish with a 3-2 record and place third in the tournament… The Clinton team include: Jy Leake, Zane McLendon, Harrison Moore, Jackson Martin, Brett Young, Carson Glenn, Jadon Goodwin, Bryce Young, Tyler Johnson, Chris Fortman, Cason Copeland and Lee Malone…. The Head Coach Josh McLendon was assisted by Chris Moore, Graig Glenn and Billy Glenn… Congratulations to the team.
  • Laurens & Clinton 10-11 Dixie Youth All-Stars faced off against each other in a best of 3 series over the weekend with the winner advancing to the state tournament… I don’t really have any details other than the fact that Clinton took 2 straight games to advance… If any coaches are listening, I still would like to get some details.
  • Braves: Braves 5 – Mets 3… The Atlanta Braves finally got to come home last night after an 11-day road trip and extended their winning streak to 5 games a 5-3 win over the Mets… The Mets led 3-1 going into the bottom of the 8th inning when the Braves put 4 runs on the board and then brought in Craig Kimbrel to do what he has done 25 times this season, close out the game and get the save… In the decisive 8th inning the Braves used 3 singles, 3 Met errors and a bases loaded walk to get the 4 runs scored in the inning… Both teams had 8 hits and Atlanta was led by BJ Upton and Jason Hayward who both went 2-4…. A quick reminder that the 85th MLB All-Star Game will be July 15th at Target Field the home of the Minnesota Twins… The All-Star voting has started and will be open until just before midnight on July 3rd… You can vote multiple time.… If you are interested, click on the following link: MLB All-Star Voting

Greenville Drive: Hickory 10 – Greenville 3… The Greenville Drive concluded their 4 game series in Hickory, NC last night with a 10-3 loss to the Crawdads… The Drive’s losing streak is now at 7 games as their offensive and pitching woes continue… The Crawdads pounded 3 Drive pitchers for 14 hits while the Drive bats were held to just 4…. The Drive actually led 3-2 going into the bottom of the 3rd inning when Hickory struck for 4 runs and never looked back…. The Drive return home tonight for a short 3-game series with the Ashville Tourist and it will be Military Appreciation Night with several special activities before and during the game as well as fireworks afterward… First pitch is scheduled for 7:05
