World Cup: Semifinals: Germany 7 – Brazil 1… Well for you soccer fans who may have been away from any media for the last few hours, that stunning silence coming out of Brazil is due to the fact that Germany demolished the host team Brazil yesterday in the first semifinal game of the World Cup by taking a 7-1 win over the host team… Germany scored 4 goals in the space of seven minutes in the first half to silence the home crowd… The Netherlands and Argentina will face off today with the winner advancing to the finals on Sunday to face Germany.

Braves: Mets 8 – Braves 3… After winning nine games in a row, the Braves have now lost 3 in a row as the New York Mets took an 8-3 over the Braves in NY last night… Braves All-Star pitcher Julio Teheran did not look like an all-star last night as he lasted only 3⅓ innings giving up 11 hits and 5 earned runs… The Mets wound up getting their 8 runs on 18 hits while the Braves did manage 13 hits but only 3 runs to show for it and those runs were scored in the last 2 innings of the game… BJ Upton and Jason Heyward led the Braves with 3 hits each… Game 3 of the 4-game series is tonight at 7:05.

Three Braves Make NL All-Star Roster… Craig Kimbrel, Freddie Freeman and Julio Tehran were named late Sunday to the NL East Squad for the 2014 All-Star Game next Tuesday, July 15th in Minneapolis… This is the 4th straight time that Kimbrel has been selected to the squad… Freeman was voted onto the squad last year but a hand injury prevented him from playing… Teheran’s first selection comes during his second full season at the Major League level… The 23-year-old right-hander sparkled as a rookie last year and has now established himself among the game’s elite starting pitchers… Now the voting for the for the all-star roster is not quite over as one more player for the American and National League Squads will be selected by fan vote out of 5 for each squad selected MLB… One of those nominated for the NL Squad is Braves outfielder Justin Upton… The Braves are asking all Braves fans to vote for him ASAP as the deadline to vote is just before midnight tomorrow… To vote for him, click on the following link: All-Star Game Final Fan Voting.

Greenville Drive: Charleston 4 – Grenville 3… Yogi Berra once said “It’s like deja-vu, all over again. and the Greenville Drive may be thinking the same thing as they for the second night in a row lost 4-3 to the Charleston RiverDogs down on the coast of SC… And also for the second night in a row the game was tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the 9th inning and they gave up the winning run in the 9th… The RiverDogs had 11 hits to the Drives 3… The Drive’s losing streak is now at 15 the longest in franchise history.
