Driver Charged After Passenger Jumps

Clinton Public Safety was dispatched to Highway 56 at Springdale at 10:17 yesterday morning on an EMS report of an unresponsive patient. No one was there, Officers learned a 23-year-old Irmo man had reportedly jumped from a minivan driven by a Mount Pleasant man Downtown at South Broad and West Carolina and had been seen running toward the Palmetto Bank. He was later observed on North Broad. Lt. Goggins and several firefighters located him. The man had apparently overdosed on heroin. He was transported to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the vehicle diver was located near Buddy Copeland’s Hardware and was taken into custody.

42-year-old Jason Paul DeClemente of 1342 River Otter Court, Mount Pleasant was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. With a $620 personal recognizance bond set on the Clinton charge, Jason Declemente was released to Ninety Six Police yesterday afternoon.
