Laurens County Council this week received a report on the competitive bidding for the construction of the new administrative building at Hillcrest Square. Council was informed at Tuesday evening’s meeting that Laurens County received five competitive bids from companies on July 1st during bid-opening at the Church Street Office. Council was informed that all five bids were within the architect’s cost estimate for the project.
The bid was awarded to Yeargin-Potter-Shackelford Construction Company of Greenville with a unanimous vote. That company had the lowest base bid of $2,876.000 for construction of the new two-story office building.
Part of the bid, however, was not approved. That was an alternate bid for construction of a secure parking area for judges. Council is to negotiate on that issue.
