Man Dies Following Motorcycle/Deer Collission

A Clinton man was pronounced dead just before noon today, after being injured when the small motorcycle he was riding outside Clinton collided with a deer last night. Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols said that 51-year-old Stephen Taylor of 30572 Highway 72 East, Clinton was pronounced dead as of 11:57 this morning in Spartanburg. Taylor was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional last night after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a deer on Sunset Blvd at 9:13 pm. Nichols said that Stephen Taylor died of blunt force trauma to his head and body.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Tony Keller said that the deceased was riding a 2008 Super Speed Motorcycle south on Sunset Blvd about a mile south of Clinton at 9:13 last night when a deer entered the roadway traveling toward the east and was struck by the front of the motorcycle. Trooper Keller said the rider was not wearing a helmet and was trapped under the motorcycle. He was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead at 11:27 am today.
