The Sheriff’s Office Friday served charges on a Clinton man, accusing him of receiving stolen batteries from 7 locations around the county. 23-year-old James Cody Landers of 27 Peachtree Street, Clinton was charged with 7 counts of Receiving Stolen Goods two months ago. Lt. Jawarski Shelton states that on May 29th James Cody Landers received batteries knowing, or having reason to know that they were stolen. This allegedly included $1,734 worth received from 4446 Charlotte’s Road, Clinton and batteries worth $499 from 1233 Charlotte’s Road. Other Laurens area sites where he’s accused of receiving stolen batteries included several stashes of batteries valued at $678 from 5121 Torrington Road, 744 Curry Road, 29 Sandy Springs Road, 7668 Highway 308 and 555 Highway 49, Laurens.
With cash or surety bonds at $2,000 each, James Landers remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning with bonds totaling $14,000
