Laurens City Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Cora Street at 6:52 Friday evening on a report of a Burglary in progress. Officer James Logan Kanipe and Lt. Heath Copeland made contact with the resident who said he came home and heard someone inside his house. He had not gone inside yet. Officer Kanipe reported observing a woman attempting to climb out through a window. When asked why she was inside, she reportedly said the resident had said she could come if she ever needed somewhere. Another woman was located inside. The resident indicated he knew both women and he had invited them over, but not to enter when he was not there.
46-year-old Linda Jean Thompson of 98 Flash Drive, Laurens and 24-year-old Candace Lee Shaw of 45 Flash Drive, Laurens were both arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary. They were accused of entering the Cora Street house through a rear window to take items from the owner.
Surety bonds on both women were set at $10,000. Linda Jean Thompson remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning. Candace Lee Shaw was released yesterday.
