The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and Laurens City Police both had charges for a Wattsvllle resident yesterday. 49-year-old James Robert Blakely of #9 Copeland Street, Laurens was booked on charges of a Forgery in Laurens back in April and a theft outside town last Thursday. Laurens City Detective Leann Riggott states that on April 25, 2014 James Robert Blakely forged and published a document knowing it to be forged for the purpose of obtaining value or benefit. The document was a forged Provident Bank check for $100 presented at a Hillcrest Drive location. Sheriff’s Deputy Shepard states that on July 31st, 2014 James Robert Blakely carried away a weed eater valued at less than $2,000 from a victim on Setzler Road, Laurens. James Blakely was being held in the Johnson Detention Center overnight, pending a bond hearing.
