Tag Alert Leads to Other Charges

Clinton Public Safety Sgt. Cathy Anderson was on routine patrol at 2:23 yesterday afternoon with information about a silver VW Jetta having a suspended tag when she observed a suspect vehicle parked at Presbyterian College. As she pulled into the parking lot to investigate the Jetta was driven from the parking lot onto Calhoun Street. Sgt. Anderson followed, observing the car turn onto South Broad. After waiting for traffic, she following and observed the VW pull into the McDonald’s Parking lot. She reportedly determined the driver’s license was suspended for a DUI charge and informed him he was under arrest for Driving under Suspension. A search reportedly revealed 15.93 grams of marijuana in a box that was in a back pack. 30-year-old Elias Valentine of Roper Mountain Road, Greenville was charged with Driving under Suspension, Simple Possession of Marijuana and a Driver’s License Violation. He was released later in the afternoon on personal recognizance bonds totaling $1,327.50.
