A man has been charged with Kidnapping and assaulting a man a week ago during an attempted Armed Robbery. Laurens City Police yesterday served warrants charging 24-year-old Aaron Bradley Bagwell of 2304 Ekom Beach Road, Laurens with Attempted Armed Robbery and Kidnapping. He’s also charged with fleeing from police on July 30th.
Between August 1st and 2nd Aaron Bradley Bagwell is alleged to have attempted to rob another man by demanding the victim give him everything he had on his person in apartment 124 at 218 Spring Street. He allegedly did so in a threatening manner while armed with a club-like weapon. When the victim refused, Bagwell allegedly swung the weapon at the victim’s head, striking him on the left forearm, causing the victim’s arm to break. He then allegedly struck the victim in the head one or more times, drawing blood and causing additional injuries. Officer Patrick Craven further alleges that Aaron Bagwell kidnapped the victim by confining him in an apartment, locking the door and blocking his exit while displaying a weapon and attempting to rob him and later by striking him with the club when he refused to give in to demands.
Bagwell was also wanted from a brief police chase starting on Spring Street July 30th. He is charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Possession of Meth and Driving under Suspension. Bagwell is accused of being in possession of a Savage 22-caliber rifle as well as 1.9 grams of methamphetamine. Bagwell allegedly failed to stop for blue lights, fleeing from Lt. Brewer.
During arraignment yesterday, bond was denied on the Attempted Armed Robbery and Kidnapping charges from August 1st and 2nd. Surety bonds on the other charges from July 30th were set totaling $50,652. Aaron Bagwell remained in the Johnson Detention Center.
