PC Football fans mark Saturday August 23 on your calendar because that is when they will be having Football Fan Day at Bailey Memorial Stadium… The gates will open at 9:00 and a scrimmage starts at 10:00… The will also have a Kid Zone with face painting, inflatables and more… You will also be able to meet the Blue Hose before the game and get autographs… Free poster schedules and magnets will also be available… Admission to the event is FREE… So once again mark August 23rd on your calendar for the PC Football Fan Day

Countdown to Start of Football Season: Hang on football fans it’s only 14 days until Clinton opens up its football season at AC Flora and Laurens Academy opens hosting Coastal Christian, 20 days until PC opens up at Northern Illinois and 21 days until Laurens host BHP in the start of the Chris Liner era at LDHS.


High School Football Scrimmages… Another sure sign we are inching closer to the first games in high school football is that the scrimmages begin today…. Clinton will travel too Greenwood this morning to participate in a 4-team scrimmage that included Greenwood, Emerald and Seneca.. When I talked with Coach King yesterday he said everybody was ready to hit someone wearing a different color jersey and he would know more about his team after today’s scrimmage… If you have the chance, go down and take it in… Laurens will start their preseason scrimmages tomorrow morning at 10:00am as they host a 5-way scrimmage at KC Hannah Stadium… Strom Thurmond, Maudlin, Midland Valley and York will join the Raiders in this scrimmage.


Splash & Dash… A reminder that the Laurens County Memorial Hospital and the Laurens YMCA will be hosting the 2014 GHS Splash & Dash Day tomorrow… It is a fun day of all types of different events for youth 3-10 years of age… For more information call the YMCA at 984-2626 or click on the following link: Splash & dash 2014 Information.


Local 9U Travel Baseball Team … A local 9U travel baseball team is being organized and will hold their final tryouts this Sunday at 2:00pm at the Laurens City Park… Players cannot turn 10 before May 1, 2015… For more information, click on the following link: Local 9U Team Tryout



Braves: The Braves were off last night as they get ready for a 10 day home stand starting tonight with the NL East leading Washington Nationals coming to Atlanta for a 3-game series… The Braves are mired in an 8 game losing streak and trail Washington by 4.5 games… This series and home stand could play a big role in determining whether the Braves will make it into the playoffs.


Greenville Drive: Lexington 2 – Greenville 1 (10)… The Greenville Drive saw their 3 game winning streak come to an end last night in Lexington, Ky. as the Lexington Legends took 2-1 win over the Drive in 10 innings… Both teams scored a single run in the 8th inning and it remained that way until the bottom of the 10th inning when after 1 out the Legends turned a walk and two singles into the winning run… The Drive were limited to 4 hits on the night and o were the Legends in the first 9 innings when they picked up the 2 singles to give them 6 hits on the night… The Drive and Legends will conclude their 4-game series this weekend in Kentucky.


Carolina Panthers Training Camp schedule… The Panthers will not be practicing in Spartanburg today because they have their first pre-season game tonight in Charlotte against the Buffalo Bills… The game can be seen on Chanel 4 out of Greenville with a pregame special at 7:00 and the game at 7:30… It will be Sunday evening before they practice again in Spartanburg just a few minutes after 6:00 pm… Click on the following link to see the Carolina Panthers Training Camp schedule: Panthers Training Camp Schedule


NASCAR: The NASCAR Nationwide Series will be racing at Watkins Glen tomorrow and you can catch the action on ABC starting about 2:00 pm…. The sprint Cup series will also be at Watkins Glen and their race will be Sunday at 1:00 and can be seen on ESPN.

  • Season Tickets on sale For CHS Football… Season football tickets are now on sale at CHS for the upcoming football season… They can be purchased Mon. – Thur. from 8:00am – 3:30 pm in the business office… You need to ask for Ms. Ginger Eaton (938-1844) and will be $40 per ticket with 1 parking pass per family… For those 65 and older the season ticket is free but a parking pass will cost $20.00… Clinton has 5 home games this season… They are: Sept 12 – Woodruff, Sept. 19 – Laurens, Oct. 3 – Broome (Homecoming), Oct 17 – Union County & Oct 31 – south Pointe (Senior Night).
