Clinton Man Wanted on Multiple Counts of Attempted Murder

At 8:00 Tuesday evening, Clinton Department of Public Safety officers were called to an area of West Main Street in reference to shots fired at a vehicle. Dispatch advised that the victim stated to dispatch that her cousin was shooting at her. She said she did not know where on west main she was only that she was near the speedy mart and a barber shop. The officer spoke with the owner of the convenience store who stated he did not hear any gunshots. The officer went to the barber shop and found several shell casings on the ground. Officers asked the victim to meet them at the scene where she stated she was riding with her boyfriend and three kids when her cousin shot at them. She said her cousin was mad at her boyfriend due to past altercations. She said she stopped at the incident location to talk to her cousin to ask why he was mad at her boyfriend. She said she saw the subject pull out a gun and shoot several rounds in her direction. She said once they heard the gunshots she drove off and called 911. The boyfriend, the other victim stated that the subject had shot at him early in the day at another convenience store on west main. Sgt. Prather went to the store and located another shell casing. The male victim further stated that they pulled up to the incident location because the female victim wanted to ask the subject why he was mad at the male victim and the subject said “You lucky my cousin is in the car or I will kill you.” The subject then pulled out the gun and began shooting in his direction. 20 Year old Tyrone Johnson, Jr. of 800 East Ferguson Street Clinton has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and unlawful carry of a pistol.
