A Greer man has been charged with an undercover drug sale in Laurens just over five years ago. Laurens City Police placed 39-year-old Stuart Demond Byrd of 114 Becky Don Drive, Greer in the Johnson Detention Center just after midnight yesterday morning. He was charged with Distribution of Marijuana 2nd Offense and Distribution of Marijuana within Proximity of a School. Detective Leann Riggott states that on May 13, 2009 Stuart Byrd distributed a quantity of marijuana to a confidential informant at Cadillac Apartments, 403 Fairview Road, Laurens. Detective Riggott further states that the scene of the alleged undercover sale was within a half mile of Faith Christian School.
Byrd was also served yesterday with a Fraudulent Check charge from November of 2006. Stuart Byrd was released from the Laurens County Detention Center last evening on Surety bonds totaling $25,000 on the two drug charges.
