The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday served Drug and Child Neglect charges on a man from an incident in late July near Lake Greenwood. 37-year-old Robert Bankston Cox of 222 Brentwood Circle, Greenville was charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Manufacturing Meth in the Presence of a Child and Child Neglect. He was also charged with Possession of Meth and Illegal Disposal of Meth Waste. Sgt. Matt Veal alleges in five warrants that Robert Cox had possession of items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine on July 22nd at 716 Angler’s Haven Road, Cross Hill, that he illegally disposed of methamphetamine waste at that location and that he knowingly possessed less than one gram of methamphetamine. Veal further alleged that Cox placed a minor child he was parent or guardian of at unreasonable risk of harm by testing positive to methamphetamine at 716 Angler’s Haven Road, and that he unlawfully exposed a child to the process of manufacturing of methamphetamine. Bonds were set yesterday totaling $35,000 on the five charges. Robert Cox remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
