Siren at Traffic Stop from Deer Impact

A traffic stop near Gray-Court Owings School had a strange twist around 4:25 this morning as the Deputy’s car was struck in the side by a large deer as he was making the traffic stop. Deputy Charles Nations had been conducting extra property checks on the Family Dollar store and was on Heartstone Drive, off Highway 14, when he noted a pickup was still stopped near a stop sign. As he drove to investigate the truck began to pull off. As Deputy Nations was making a traffic stop the truck pulled over near Gray Court – Owings School, the large doe ran into the patrol car, near the driver’s door, causing the siren to begin sounding. After the deer assault on his car, the deputy checked with the driver of the pickup. Turns out, he had been sitting in the truck for a while because he had been observing deer in the field.
