The Sheriff’s Office yesterday arrested two men for allegedly taking advantage of an elderly blind man this spring. 46-year-old Hayward Earl McKinney of 1202 Sweetbriar Road, Gray Court and 44-year-old Samuel Allen “Sambo” Roberts of 358 Lake Road, Clinton were charged with Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult. Deputy Holmes states that between March and April of this year Roberts and McKinney took advantage of an elderly man by influencing him to let them take various items of scrap metal valued at approximately $10,000. This was allegedly done, knowing the elderly man was blind and unable to make a rational decision. Heyward McKinney and Samuel Roberts were released yesterday on $10,000 personal recognizance bonds.
