Arrest for Alleged Shooting

Multiple Sheriff’s Officers responded to Burdette Road, Gray Court at 5:22 yesterday afternoon after a 911 call from a woman reported she had been shot at. On arriving at the scene, Deputy McMahan spoke with a man who reportedly indicated he wanted his girlfriend of two years gone. He had allegedly fired a shot at her. In speaking with the woman officers noted she had injuries to her nose, which was cut, swollen and bleeding. The boyfriend had allegedly hit her with the stock of his rifle. Lt Haupfear documented the injuries and photographed blood found in the house. The woman did not want to press charges, but was told her injuries dictated an arrest. 66-year-old Jerry Wayne Darby of 2149 Burdette Road, Gray Court was arrested to be charged with Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature. He was placed in the Johnson Detention Center, where he was being held pending a warrant to be obtained this morning.
