How Not to Make Friends with Police

Laurens County Deputy Farrah Cook was dispatched to Easy Road south of Laurens at 7:45 last evening to secure an accident scene until the Highway Patrol could arrive. A car had run into a ditch in the 800 block of Easy Road. Deputy Cook located an apparently intoxicated woman nearby and placed her in investigative detention, pending investigation of the wreck. A Highway Patrol Trooper arrived and began investigating. In addition to appearing very intoxicated, the woman allegedly became verbally combative. At some point in the exchange, she allegedly kicked the windshield of Trooper Harmon’s patrol vehicle, causing an estimated $250 in damage to the windshield. Deputy Cook assisted Trooper Harmon in transporting the woman to the Johnson Detention Center. 37-year-old Catherine Ophelia (Whitehead) Knight of 98 Gopher Trail, Laurens was to be charged with Destruction of State Property.
