Laurens Police recently had to make an adjustment in their usual technique for handcuffing a suspect. Officers had responded to Spring Street Saturday night on a report of trespassing. One officer reported that on arrival he observed a man running out from behind an apartment building. He initiated a chase with blue light. The subject reportedly fell onto the ground. The subject reportedly would not put his hands behind his back, as requested.
On discovering that the man’s right hand was missing, the officer cuffed his left hand to his belt. The man was then transported on charges of Trespassing and Resisting Arrest.
