Clinton Public Safety officers responded to an assault report at 9:30 Monday night. On arrival they spoke with the parties involved, one male and one female. The female reported that she and the male had gotten into a verbal argument over a card game but that he had not assaulted her at all. The male claimed that the argument was only verbal and there was nothing physical. While speaking with him, Officer Yelton reportedly observed a cigarette-like object behind the male’s ear. After getting consent from the man to look more closely at the object, the officer determined that is was a joint of marijuana. Due to the small amount of the drug, and to the man’s cooperation with the officers, they did not charge him. They did, however, seize the marijuana joint. It was to be destroyed.
