Clemson Regional… I’m sure most true Tiger fans kept up with the Tigers in the regional at Doug Kingsmore stadium but just in case you missed something.

  • Friday: Clemson 5 – UNC-G 4… On Friday the Tigers took a 5-4 win over the Spartans of UNC-Greensboro in their first game of the regionals… The Spartans took an early 1-0 lead but Clemson scored 4 runs in the 5th inning and then went on to take the win.
  • Saturday: Vanderbilt 9 – Clemson 4… Then on Saturday the Tigers took on the Commodores of Vanderbilt in a winners bracket game… The Commodores threw their ace pitcher Kyle Wright at the Tigers and he did give up a few runs but the Tiger pitchers gave up more as the Commodores won the game 9-4 pounding out 16 hits to the Tigers 9.
  • Sunday, Game 1: Clemson 6 – UNC-G 3… The loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday dropped the Tigers into the losers bracket where they were to face the Spartans of UNC Greensboro again yesterday at 1:00 pm and the winner of that game would face Vanderbilt at 7:00 pm and have to beat them twice to win the regional… However bad weather in the Clemson area forced the game with the Spartans to be delayed until; about 6 pm yesterday… The Spartans jumped out to an early lead but Logan Davidson’s two-run homer in the 7th inning helped lift the Tigers to a 6-3 win over the Spartans.
  • Sunday, Game 2: Clemson 6 – Vanderbilt 0… After winning the game with the Spartans, the Tigers had just a few minutes to catch their breath before the game with the Commodores started just after 10:00 pm last night… For those of you who did not stay up to watch it there is good news if you are a Tiger fan as Clemson took a 6-0 win forcing a winner take all game today at 4:00 pm… The Tigers got a great game out of graduate right-hander Tyler Jackson who pitched a two-hit shutout while the Tigers picked up 10 hits including a solo homerun by Weston Jackson who went 3-5 on the day and had 3 RBIs… The winner of today’s game at which starts at 4:00 pm and can be seen on ESPN3 will be the regional winner and advance to the Super Regional and will be playing Oregon state and I do believe it will be out in Oregon…. Good Luck to the Tigers!

Braves … The Braves were in Cincinnati for a 3-game series with the Reds over the weekend.

  • Friday: Reds 3 – Braves 2 (10)… On Friday the Braves and the Reds battled to a 2-2 tie at the end of 9 innings with the Braves outhitting the Reds 11-5… In the 10th inning each team picked up one more hit but the problem for Braves fans is that the Reds hit was a leadoff solo homer by Devin Mesoraco in the bottom of the 10th to give the Reds a 3-2 win.
  • Saturday: Braves 6 – Reds 5 (12)… Saturday’s game was somewhat similar to Friday’s game in that the two teams were tied at the end of 9 innings this time by a score of 5-5… However the results were different in that the Braves took a 6-5 win in 12 innings and they had matt Adams bat to thank for the win… Not only did he get the winning run in the 12th inning on a solo homer but he also had a grand slam in the 5th inning where the Braves scored a total of 5 runs.
  • Sunday: Braves 13 – Reds 8… Yesterday the Braves and the reds hooked up in the rubber-game of the 3-games series and good news for Braves fans as they won 13-8… The long ball definitely played a part in this game as each team had 3 homeruns but the Braves managed to outhit the Reds 13-8 in the game to pick up the other runs they needed… The Braves now return home tonight after the long road trip and will start a week long home stand with a the first team into the Sun Trust Park tonight will be the Phillies for a 4-game series.

Drive … The Drive completed their 4-game series with the Charleston RiverDogs over the weekend… As you may remember the series started on Thursday with Greenville taking a 3-2

  • Friday: Drive 4 – RiverDogs 2…. On Friday the Drive again were victorious this time by a score of 4-2… The game was tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the 8th when the Drive put 2 runs on the board and tehn blanked the RiverDogs in the top of the 9th to take the win.
  • Saturday: RiverDogs  5 – Drive 0… On Saturday the RiverDogs bounced back to take a 5-0 win over the Drive scoring 3 runs in the 6th and single runs in the 7th and the 8th innings to take the win.
  • Sunday: RiverDogs 17 – Drive 0… Yesterday the two teams finished their series but someone forgot to tell the Drive pitchers and bats that there was a game because the RiverDogs put an old-fashioned beat-down on the Drive taking a 17-0 win handing the Drive their worse loss of the season… The RiverDogs pummeled the Drive pitchers getting 17 hits (three of which were homers) while the Dive managed just 5 hits in the game… The Drive are off tonight and will start a week long road trip tomorrow with the first stop being in Hickory, NC.
