College Baseball Notes:

  • Vanderbilt 8 – Clemson 0… The Clemson Tiger baseball team and Vanderbilt were supposed to play the winner take all game of the Clemson Regional yesterday at 4:00 but the rains in the forced the game to be postponed twice and it finally got underway ay 8:30 last night… The Tigers probably wished the rains would have been hard and long enough to postpone the game until today because Vanderbilt took an 8-0 win over the Tigers therefore punching their ticket to a superregional and ending Clemson’s season with a 42-21 record… The Commodores got on the board in the top of the 3rd inning when Will Toffey hit a 2-run homer…. The Commodores scored 4 runs in the 5th inning and again Toffey’s bat had a lot to do with that as he blasted a 3-run homer… The Commodores then went on and added single runs in the 6th and 9th inning as they collected 13 hits in the game off 5 Tiger pitchers… Meanwhile the Tiger bats were cooled by 3 Vanderbilt pitchers as they managed only 4 hits in the game… By the way Toffey was a unanimous selection as the Regional MVP… To get more details on this game and to see which of the Tigers made the Regional All-Tournament Team, click here.
