The first round of Laurens Sings takes place tonight at 6:30 at the Laurens Amphitheater…   Laurens Sings is in its first year and is replacing Laurens Idol that has been very popular in the past… There are 15 finalists who will perform tonight and then you will get to vite for your favorite online and that combined with judges scores will be used to rank the performances tonight… To find out mall the details about Laurens Sings and who the 15 finalist are, click here.

Laurens County Speedway results from the main events last Saturday night (First, second & third).

  • Thunder Bombers Casey Lawson, Dylan Chappell & Shane Roberts… When the Thunder Bombers main event ended it appeared that Dan Lawson picked up his third straight win… However a post-race protest was entered and he agreed to have his car inspected and in the end his car was ruled illegal so Casey Lawson picked up the win.
  • 602 Crates… Mart Patterson, Jeff Robinson & Chris Patterson…. Mart Patterson jumped out to the early lead in the 602 Crates and finished first breaking Jeff Robinson’s two-race winning streak… Robinson finished second.
  • 604 Crates… Dylan Brown, Dale Timms & Larry Timms… In this division Dylan Brown led wire to wire with Dale and Larry Timms being the next two across the finish line in that order.
  • FWD… Travis Jamieson, Joel Cabe & Mason Mack… The FWD division also had another driver win wire to wire and not have too serious a challenger and that driver was Travis Jamieson.
  • Monster Minis… Rod Tucker, Phillip Wilson & Larry Teal… Rod Tucker won the Monster Minis main event but he did not do it wire to wire…. He was close to that though as he took the lead before the first lap was over and then went on to the win.
  • Limited… Billy Rushton, Frankie Coates & Steve Bowie…The Limited division saw the main event winner take the win by the biggest margin of the night (over 9 seconds) and the driver who won was Billy Rushton who took full advantage of a caution free race to show he had the best car in the race. .

Dirt Devils Headed to Cooperstown…. The Clinton based Dirt Devils 12U baseball team has been selected to play in the Cooperstown Dream Park and American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament during the week of June 10 in Cooperstown, New York…. The Dirt Devils will spend 7 days playing a minimum of 7 games in pool play. The team’s results in pool play will determine their seeding for a single elimination championship playoff… There will also be various individual completions and a visit to National Baseball Hall of Fame… Dirt Devils 12U teams members are Justin Copeland, Zach Fortman, Wil Stewart, Wilson Wages, Austin Copeland, Chandler Mims, Luke White, Landon Vo, RT Corley, Zane Mclendon, and Caleb Taylor. Coaches include Brian Fortman, Josh Mclendon, and Matt Stewart…. Congratulations and Good Luck to the team!.

  • Drive 5 – Crawdads 3… The Greenville Drive broke a 3-game losing streak last night as they defeated the Hickory Crawdads 5-3 up in Hickory, NC… The Drive’s bats finally came alive as they pounded out 13 hits including a solo homer.
  • Braves 14 – Phillies 1… The Braves snapped their 4-game losing streak last night as they pounded out 12 hits and scored 14 runs in their 14-1 win over the Phillies in Atlanta… Shortstop Dansby Swanson paced the Braves going 3-4 which includes a 3-run homer in the 5th inning… First baseman Mark Adams had just one hit but it was a 2-run homer in the 8th inning… The Braves wrap up the current 4-game series with the Phillies tonight at Sun Trust Parky centerfielder Chris Madera… The Drive used 3 pitchers who allowed just 5 hits.

  • Raider Youth Baseball Camp… Coach Patterson, his staff and both current and former players will be conducting a youth baseball camp July 10-113… The camp is open to all youth in the community between the ages of 7-13…. The basic fundamentals including throwing, catching, hitting, base running, and pitching will be covered… Water and snacks for the campers will be provided with plenty of breaks between periods each day… The camp will be held at Ed Prescott Field between the hours of 5:00 – 7:30 pm and the cost is $40 (cash only) per camper… If you click here you will find more information as to what you should bring and a form that needs to be completed and signed by the parents and brought to the camp when you register that morning… Raider Baseball wants to provide our youth baseball players with the proper instructions on how to become a successful baseball player, and also an idea of what it takes to be RAIDER!

  • CHS Athletic Booster Golf Tournament… Athletic Director Nickie Templeton and Booster Club President Buddy Bridges have released information about the 2107 CHS Booster Club Golf Tournament… This year, the tournament will be held at Musgrove Mill, on July 27…  Registration begins at 8:30…  For more information: CHS Golf Tourney Brochure 2017… This is a major fundraiser for our Red Devil student-athletes, and it is also a lot of fun… GO BIG RED!
