Invaders from Midlands?

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating suspects from the Midlands area of South Carolina allegedly stealing goods here in Laurens County. Chief Deputy Jarvis Reeder told WLBG yesterday that items of substantial value were taken.

Deputies yesterday arrested 37-year-old Mark Alan Smith of 1815 Frink Street, Cayce and charged him with Burglary 2nd Degree, two counts of Grand Larceny and with Petit Larceny from his alleged activities in Laurens County on Monday of this week.

Warrants served on Mr. Smith cite work of Sheriff’s Investigator Farrah Cook as indicating that on July 10th in Laurens County, Mark Alan Smith

entered a building at 2442 Watts Bridge Road, Cross Hill without consent and with intent to commit a crime therein. This allegedly occurred in the nighttime. Smith is accused of taking away various items valued at over $2,000 from one victim as well as taking various items belonging to another victim, also valued at over $2,000. In a 3rd theft, Smith is accused of taking away two Yeti coolers valued at $2,000 or less. That warrant notes he has a prior conviction for the same.

Mark Alan Smith of Cayce was being held overnight, awaiting a bond hearing today.

A 38-year-old woman from Bush River Road, Columbia was also being held overnight, pending her being served with warrants.
