PC Notes

Elite Football Camp…July 15th, 10:00– 3:00 pm… The Coach Tommy Spangler Elite Football Camp is designed for high school juniors and seniors to receive individual instruction from the Presbyterian College coaching staff…  Campers will receive instruction in Fundamentals, Skills, and Techniques as well as one-on-one drills…  Our camps are designed to make each participant a better football player while creating a fun and competitive environment…. PC Season Football Tickets on Sale

  • PC has 7 home games this season and the first one is on Saturday, Sept 16 when the Blue Hose host Campbell in the first of 6 home games in a row.
  • Blue chair back reserve seats are only $120.00 for the entire 7-game home season.
  • Bench reserved seating is $90 per seat for the season.
  • Parking is $5 per game but season parking passes are available for $25.
  • Per game seating (subject to availability) is $2o per game for chair type seats bench general admission will be $10 per seat for adults and $5 for students.

Local Notes: 

Laurens County Speedway… Below are the results from racing in last Saturday night’s main events (first, second & third).

  • 602 Crates… Lee Gray, Cameron Crowe & Chris Patton… Lee Gray won not only the main event in the 602 Crates but also the qualifier for it… Chris Patterson who finished third was leading late in the race but he tagged the wall allowing Gray to take the win and Cameron Crowe to finish second.
  • Limited…Deano Long, Michael Smith & Billy Rushton… Deano Long and Michael Smith both started on the front row in the main event of the limited division and Long took the lead early and finished first with Smith coming in second… Billy Rushton finished third.
  • FWD… Jonathan Sarratt, Tony Hill & James Coggins… Jonathan Sarratt won the pole and lead wire to wire in the FWD…. The next two drivers across the finish line were Tony Hill & James Coggins.
  • 604 Crates… Larry Timms, Goose Calvert & Colby Cannon… Larry Timms started on the outside of row 1 in the 604 Crates but took the lead early and he and Goose Calvert who finished second pretty much dominated the race.
  • Monster Minis… Travis Sharpe, Phillip Wilson & Dustin Morris… Travis Sharpe took the lead early in the Monster Mini main event and then never gave it up… Philip Wilson was able to fight his way up and finished second but could not catch Sharpe.
  • Thunder Bombers… Dan Lawson, Dylan Chappell & Casey Lawson… It took a couple of restarts to get the Thunder Bombers going but when the race was finally in the books Dan Lawson had found his way back to victory lane… In the battle for second & third, Dylan Chappell held off Casey Lawson to take second.

  • Braves… The Braves were off last night and resume the second half of their season tomorrow night as they start a 3-game series with the D-Backs at Sun Trust Park Drive…. The Braves are 42-45 on the season in 2nd place in the NL east 9.5 behind the Nationals…. The D-backs are in 2nd place in the NL West with a 53-36 record and trail the Dodgers by 7.5 who lead the NL west.
  • Drive 2- Intimidators 1… If you like pitchers’ duels, Flour Field was the place to be last night as the Greenville Drive and the Kannapolis Intimidators combined to score only 3 runs and good news fro Drive fans because the Drive had two of those runs as they took a 3-2 win… The Drive took a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning on a solo homer by their catcher Roldani Baldwin… The Intimidators tied the game with a run in the 8th inning when Baldwin had a walk-off double scoring Tyler Hill who had just tripled… The Drive now have a 4-game winning streak and will finish the series with Kannapolis tonight and start a 3-game series with Hickory tomorrow night at Flour Field.

  • Raider Softball Clinics… Coach Haley Register Satterfield the new head coach of the of the Laurens Raider varsity softball team will be holding FREE softball clinics at LDHS this summer… The clinics are open to all young ladies between the ages of 8 and 13 who are interested in learning to play softball and depending on participation they may lead to a travel team being formed this summer… The clinics will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between the hours of 7:00 – 8:15 pm… The clinics will end July 31st and there will not be any clinics during the July 4th week.… Each young lady needs to bring a glove, bat, tennis shoes and cleats to practice… If you have any questions about this, contact coach Satterfield at hmregister@laurens55.org..
  • Laurens Middle School Football Meeting… There has been a lot of teacher and coaching turnover in Laurens School District 55 since the end of the last school year and LMS has not been immune to that syndrome where coaches are concerned… That is why on Thursday, July 20th they would like all students who will be in the 7th and 8th grade at LMS who plan on playing football this fall to come to meeting at the LMS football field where they will have the opportunity to meet the new coaching staff and AD… Parents are more than welcome to come and the new staff will be glad to answer any questions from students or parent… The meeting will start at 6:00 pm and again it will be at the LMS football field on the 20th of this month.
  • CHS Athletic Booster Golf Tournament… Athletic Director Nickie Templeton and Booster Club President Buddy Bridges have released information about the 2107 CHS Booster Club Golf Tournament… This year, the tournament will be held at Musgrove Mill, on July 27…  Registration begins at 8:30…  For more information: CHS Golf Tourney Brochure 2017… This is a major fundraiser for our Red Devil student-athletes, and it is also a lot of fun… GO BIG RED!
  • Clinton YMCA Fall Flag Football and Cheerleading… Registration is now open for flag football and cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… For flag football there will be 3 age groupings 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12…. Cheerleading is open to youth in grades K-6….   • Clinton YMCA: The next camp at the Clinton YMCA is a basketball camp July 17-20 for boys and girls ages 8-12 that you must sign up for by July 14th … Click here for more information.
  • Laurens YMCA: The next camp at the Laurens YMCA is a Tie Die camp for youth ages 7 and up that is to be held July 18-20… The campers will be introduced to T-ball, flag football, soccer, gaga ball & disc golf… Click here for more information.
  • Free Swimming Lessons @ Laurens YMCA… The Laurens Family YMCA along with Kennedy Mortuary will be sponsoring FREE swimming lessons for parents and children who are both looking to learn how to swim together starting next Monday July 17th… It will run Monday thru Thursday and will be 30 minutes long each day… There are different time periods based on the age of the child (3-6, 7-10 and 11-15)….   • Youth Volleyball Camp… There one more volleyball camp starting Monday, July 17th … The camp will have LDHS coaches and players as instructors… The cost is $60 for each camp and they will be held at The Ridge from 9:00 am – noon… This camp will be for youth ages 11-14… The camp will run through Thursday and will be held at The Ridge
  • Laurens Parks & Recreation Youth Football Camp….The Laurens Parks and Recreation Dept. is having a youth football camp on July 22nd for youth ages 7-12… The camp is designed to teach the proper fundamentals of football and to give the attendees experience and knowledge of what it takes to make it to the NFS… Autwan Edwards, Rahim Abdullah and Airese Currie all of whom are NFL draftees will be coaching the camp… Ramon Robinson an elite QB coach in the southeast will also be one of the coaches… The cost of the camp is $65 and those who register will automatically be registered for the Parks and Recreation youth tackle football program this fall….You do noy have to be a resident of Laurens to attend and you do not have to play in the youth football program this fall to attend.
  • Basketball Camp… This camp will be July 31 – August 2 and is open to youth ages 9-13… The cost of this camp will be $40 and will be held at The Ridge from 9:00 am – noon each day.

2017 PC Sports Camps… PC has different sports camps throughout the summer… Below are the next couple of camps that I know of being held at PC.

  • Boys Evening Day Soccer Camp… August 4-6…Boys 5-15… This camp is designed to help young men improve their skills at any level through teaching fundamentals and game play… For more information on how to register and what to bring, click here.
