Local Notes:

Clinton DY 9-10 All-Stars Finish 1-2 in State Tournament… Yesterday I mentioned that the Clinton DY 9-10 All-Star team fell to Summerville 9-4 on Saturday… Let’s catch up on ho0w they have been doing since then.

  • Sunday: Clinton 15 – Hartsville 5… On Sunday Clinton and Hartsville faced off in a loser’s bracket game with the winner moving on and the loser going home… Good news as Clinton took a 15-5 win… Clinton got on the board first but Hartsville came back to cut into Clinton’s lead so that the Clinton only led 7-5 going into the top of the 4th inning… In the 4th, Clinton put 5 runs on the board and added 3 in the 6th to live to play another day… Clinton picked up their 15 runs on 13 hits while holding Hartsville to the 5 runs on 4 hits.
  • Monday: McLeod Park 9 – Clinton 7… Yesterday Clinton had to take on McLeod Park a team out of District 10 in the Florence area… McLeod Park jumped out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning… Clinton chipped away at the lead and only trailed 4-3 going into the bottom of the third inning… McLeod Park platted 2 more runs in the bottom of the third to go up 6-3… Clinton responded scoring 4 runs in the top of the fourth to take a 7-6 lead… They then held McLeod Park scoreless in the bottom of the fourth but failed to do so in the bottom of the fifth where McLeod Park pushed 3 runs across and then hold Clinton scoreless in the sixth to take the win and eliminate Clinton from the tournament… Congratulations to the team on winning the district and making it into the state tournament.
