Laurens LL Majors Drop Heartbreaker

  • Greenville 15 – Laurens 14The Laurens Little League Majors All-Star team was back in action last night up in Taylors as they faced off against a team from Greenville… Both teams entered the game 2-0 and the winner would be in a prime position in the double-elimination tournament… When the final out was recorded, Greenville had taken a 15-14 win in a back and forth game… Greenville took the lead early and led 3-0 going into the top of the 3rd inning when Laurens put 4 runs on the board to take the lead… Greenville responded with 6 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to back up 9-4… Bothe teams scored a pair of runs in the 4th and Laurens outscored Greenville 2-1 in the 5th inning making the score 12-8 Greenville going into the 6th and final inning of play… The Laurens team didn’t quit in the 6th as they scored 6 runs to go up 14-12… Greenville then got their turn at bat and with one out got the needed hits (and a Laurens error) to plate 3 runs and take a walk-off win… The loss drops Laurens into the losers; bracket and they will play Tega Cay-Fort Mill tonight at 6:00 pm and the winner will advance to play Greenville tomorrow night 6:00 pm and will have to defeat Greenville then in order to force a “winner take all” game for the state championship on Thursday… Good luck to the team!
