  • Girls’ Tennis… The Lady Raider tennis team participated in the 221 Eye Opener up in Spartanburg County this past weekend.
  • Laurens 4 – Gaffney 3… After losing to perennial power Southside Christian in the opening round of the Highway 221 Eve-opener Tournament the Raiders travelled to Dorman High School for a 2nd round matchup with the Gaffney Indians. In tight matches, Kathleen Horner, Kathryn Tribble, and McKenzie Little played well to wins in singles action… With the match split with each time securing 3 wins each, the #1 doubles to the court for the chance to win. The doubles duo of Horner/Tribble played clean and kept their opponents off balance for a win that sent the Raiders into a 3rd round match up with Woodruff…. For more information on this match, click here.
  • Laurens 4 – Woodruff 4… In the 3rd round of the Highway 221 Eye-opener Tournament the Lady Raiders took the courts against a familiar foe playing the Woodruff Wolverines… The match started with Tribble was awarded a win after Cairnes became ill, giving the Raiders an early 1-0 lead… From that point forward, it became a repeat of near yearly matches against Woodruff… The girls grinded for long tough points and worked hard to gain points… The Raiders fell behind on the match score 1-3 before Horner and Little were above to each battle back from 1st set losses to pull out desperately needed wins in 3rd sets… The match hinged on the #1 doubles of Horner and Tribble… For the 2nd straight match Horner/Tribble picked up the win to give the Raiders a 4-3 win and the championship of Pool B… Kathleen Horner/Kathryn Tribble/McKenzie Little each received a game ball for their excellent play throughout the tournament with Kathleen Horner being named to the All-Tournament Team.
