Sports Report for Thursday, 9-7-2017

PC Notes:

  • Citadel Game Moved to PC… The Presbyterian College football team’s matchup with The Citadel, originally scheduled for Saturday in Charleston, S.C., has been moved to Clinton, S.C. due the impending threat of Hurricane Irma. Kickoff is now slated for noon at Bailey Memorial Stadium… The relocation of the game gives PC eight home games for 2017 and extends the upcoming home stand to seven straight for the Blue Hose. It will be the first meeting between the two teams in Clinton since 1937… Ticket information and additional details will be announced as soon as they are finalized on Thursday.

Braves: The Braves played a pair of games with the Texas Rangers yesterday at Sun Trust Park in Atlanta

  • Game 1: Rangers 12 – Braves 8… If you like to see a lot of runs scored in a baseball game then game one was for you as the two teams combined to put 20 runs on the board but the only problem for Brave fans is that the Rangers scored 12 of them as they took a 12-8 win over the Braves… Matt Kemp and Ender Inciarte both had homers for the Braves but the Randers also had two homers in the game.
  • Game 2: Braves 5 – Rangers 4… In game 2, the Braves rebounded to take a 5-4 win and thus avoided being swept by the Rangers in the 3-game series… The Braves scored 5 runs in the second inning and then held on to take the win… Centerfielder Ender Inciarte led the Braves going 2-3 with an RBI… The Braves now start a 4-game series with the Marlins in Atlanta tonight.

Drive 4 – RiverDogs 1… The Greenville Drive traveled down to the coast last night to take on the Charleston RiverDogs in game one of the best of three series for the SAL Southern Division crown…. Good news for Drive fans as they took a 4-1 win over the Dogs… The game was scoreless until the 6th inning when the RiverDogs scored their only run but the Drive responded and took the lead in the 7th on a pair of runs and then added single runs in the 8th & 9th innings to seal the win… Game two is tomorrow night at Flour Field and the “if needed” game will be Saturday night at Flour Field.
