Laurens Hard-Hit by Irma

Power was disrupted to several hundred Laurens CPW customers last night when several large trees and tree limbs fell on power lines around town. CPW General Manager John Young said crews worked until 5AM this morning restoring power to all but a few isolated customers. Crews from the city of Clinton were to be assisting the CPW his morning to help restore power for all remaining outages. Any remaining customers without power should call the CPW at 681.4300 to let them know.

Young urged residents to please be careful outside, saying “Many trees and tree limbs are unstable and could fall. Live power lines may also still be downed on the ground.”

Anyone who sees power lines on the ground should call their power company, and do not come into contact with any line, as this can be fatal.
