CHS:
- JV VB: Clinton 2 – Newberry 1… Back on Tuesday the Clinton volleyball teams hosted the Lady Bulldogs of Newberry and while I have not been able to find the varsity results I can tell you that the JV team did take a 2-1 win over Newberry… Clinton won the first set 25-17 but Newberry rebounded to take the second set 25-16… In the third and deciding set the Red Devils took a 15-10 win to secure the match win…. The volleyball teams are scheduled to be at Broome today.
- Tennis: Clinton 6 – Newberry 0… Also back on Tuesday the Lady Red Devil tennis team hosted the lady Bulldogs of Newberry and good news here also as they took a 6-0 win… Elizabeth Jones, Mary Catherine Dailey, Geri Hill, Kaitey Threatt and Gracie Spangler all took wins in singles action… Only the #2 doubles team of Grace Johnson and Aaliyah Johnston played and they also defeated their opponents… For individual scores in the match, click here… The team is scheduled to play at Broome today.

Special Notes about Laurens at Dorman this Friday Night:
- Fan Bus… There will be a fan bus headed to Dorman and it will leave from in front of the high school at 6:00 pm… The cost is $5.00 and this Does Not include the cost of the ticket to get into the game.
- New Security Procedures at Dorman… All spectators who attend a game in Cavalier Stadium, both on the home side and visitors side, will go through a security screening involving metal detectors as they enter the stadium.. They have instituted the new screening procedure as a proactive measure in the interest of student and fan safety… To see more information about what you can and cannot bring into the stadium and about how the screening procedure will be handled, click here… They have also produced a short video giving you much of the same information and if you would like to see it, click here.
Middle School Athletics:
- Hickory Tavern VB… On Tuesday the HT volley ball team was on the road taking on the teams from Mid-Carolina and Newberry Muddle Schools… The Lady Panthers did not fare very well as they lost to both schools in 4 sets… Set scores were 25-17, 25-15, 25-11 and 25-20.
Results From Last Saturday Night’s Main Events at the Laurens County Speedway
- Limited… Billy Rushton picked up his second win in as many weeks… He took the lead in about the 4th lap and held on to take the win… Bryan Mullins finished second and Deano Long third.
- SECA 604 Crates… Dillon Brown won the main event here and led wire to wire.
- Monster Minis… Larry Teal turned back Philip Wilson to take the win and also claim the division championship for this season.
- Thunder Bombers… Dale Evans won the main event here but Dusty Eaves wrapped up the division championship finishing third.
- 602 Crates… Mart Patterson crossed the finish line first Chris Patterson crossing it next.
- FWD… Mason Mack took the lead after a second lap restart and then fended off Joel Cabe who finished second.

- Nationals 7 – Braves 3… The Washington Nationals continued their dominance over the Atlanta Braves last night in Atlanta by taking a 7-3 win over the Braves… All three of the Braves runs came of solo homers one each for Freddie Freeman (28), Kurt Suzuki (16) and Jace Peterson (2).

- Raider Football Broadcast… Our next Laurens varsity football broadcast will be this Friday night when Laurens travels to Dorman… We will start with our Friday Night Insiders program at 6:00 and then go live to Dorman about 6:35 with Doug Holiday calling the game and King Dixon adding his analysis of the game… Mike Hughes will report from the sideline…Our FM in-stadium transmitter will be set on 89.7 or 101.5 whichever I find is better when I get there.… And as usual you can hear it live on the internet at www.wlbg.com.

- Throw Back Night at CHS… On Friday September 22, the Clinton Red Devils will honor the 1977 and 1987 State Championship teams during “Throwback Night” in their game versus Chesnee… All members and coaches of the two championship teams are invited to attend… Special jerseys will be worn that replicate the 1977 state championship uniforms and will have a commerative patch that honor both teams… All team members are encouraged to email Coach Webb at andrewwebb@lcsd56g.com if you plan on attending… After the game, all team members and coaches are invited to go to the high school to eat “Friday Night Chicken” in the school cafeteria with the team… The throwback uniforms will be available to purchase for $50… The State Champion members will have the first opportunity to buy the jersey, and then they will go on sale to the public. - Fall Soccer at the Clinton YMCA… Registration is now open at the Clinton Family YMCA for fall soccer… It is open to youth ages 3-12 and will be divided into three age appropriate groups.
