Local Notes:

Volleyball… In recent volleyball action involving the Red Devils…

  • Var.: Chapman 3 – Clinton 0… Back on Monday the Red Devils hosted the Chapman Panthers and the results are not what I like to report as Chapman took a 3-0 win… Set scores were 2514, 25-9 and 25-15.
  • JV: Clinton 2 – Chapman 0… Now there is better news where the JV girls are concerned as they defeated Chapman 2-0… Set scores were 25-16 and 25-22.
  • Var.: Woodruff 3 – Clinton 0… Then on Tuesday the Red Devils traveled to Woodruff and again the news is not good for Red Devil fans as the Wolverines took a 3-0 win… Set scores were 25-10, 25-14 and 25-15… The team travels to Chapman today to take on the Panthers again.
  • JV: Woodruff 2 – Clinton 1… In JV action prior to the varsity match Woodruff also won by a score of 2-1… Clinton took the first set 25-16 but Woodruff rebounded to take the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and 15-9

  • Woodruff 5 – Clinton 2… Also back on Tuesday the Red Devil tennis team traveled to Woodruff… The Wolverines were just a bit stronger than the Red Devils as they took a 5-2 win… The Red Devils’ two wins came at the #1 singles spot where Elizabeth Jones defeated her opponent and at the #1 doubles spot where Jones and Mary Catherine Dailey defeated their opponents… For more information on this match, click here.

Volleyball… On Tuesday the Raiders hosted the Greenwood Eagles in region volleyball action:

  • VB: Newberry 2 – GCO 1… On Tuesday the GCO volleyball team fell to Newberry by a score of 2-1… Newberry took the first set 25-16 but GCO rebounded to take the second set 25-11… The third and deciding set went to Newberry by a score of 15-4.

  • CMS-8 48 – HT 16… Yesterday the HT Panthers traveled over to Clinton to take on the CMS 8th grade Wildcat team and mistakes and a high powered Wildcat proved to be just a little too much for the Panthers as the Wildcats took a 48-16 win… Clinton simply had way too many mistakes (especially fumbles) and trailed 35-0 at the half… To their credit they came back out in the second half and scored 16 points….  For the Wildcats Danny Kinard Jr. had 2 TDs plus a 2-point conversion and JyKorie Gary had a TD run, an 80 yd. kickoff return for a TD plus a 2-point conversion… Nyker Sims scored 2 TDs, Tye Jones recovered a fumble and returned it for a TD and Davis Wilson kicked a PAT…. For HT their first TD came on a 33 yd. pass from Austin Roach to Dale Hostetler with Hostetler adding the 2 points on a run… Their other TD came on an 48 yd. run bu Mason Hamby with Dakota Sudberry picking up the 2-point conversion…. The Wildcats go to 4-0 on the season while HT falls to 1-3 on the season.

Pro Sports     For more information on each game, click on the score at the start.

  • Mets 7 – Braves 1… The Braves finished their series with the Mets in New York yesterday on a sour note as the Mets took a 7-1 win… The Mets only led 3-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning when they broke the game open plating 4 runs in the inning to make the final score 7-1… The Mets’ Dominic Smith’s 3-run homer in the 7th inning was the big blow.
