“Spec” Building Progress Update

The Laurens Commission of Public Works received an update this week regarding the process now underway to construct a new “Spec” building in Hunter Industrial Park. General Manager John Young noted Monday that County Council has approved the Laurens County Development Corporation’s “Project Vertical,” which involves borrowing funds from Santee Cooper to construct a 75,000-square-foot shell building in the Hunter Industrial Park. The loan is to be repaid by money in the Hunter Industrial Park Fund. Young reminded the commissioners that the loan from Santee Cooper does not have to be repaid for three years, and hopefully the building will have been sold for a new Industry by that time.
